#15 Surf Sessions: Photos From a Specific Place and Time.
Surf Session is now live on the website, you or your friends might be in one of these photos.
Welcome to issue 15 and the first of 2025. Today marks the launch of a limited series called ‘Surf Sessions’. For some time I’ve pondered on what to do with a large number of photos that either never see the light of day or don’t reach their intended ending; to find their way back to the subject in the frame. I’m relying on 3º of separation in the hope they make it there.
Photographing surf allows for the collection of thousands of images, none ever the same, each as interesting as the next, moving oceans and subjects snapped frozen in their own interesting posture each time.
The Goal: To Share Photos With Those In The Frame
The camera is a tool that strikes a conversation. Let’s be honest, we all want photos of ourselves doing something cool like surfing. More so when in the ocean, sharing the same water space gives time to chat in between wave sets and exchange details to show the work made. There are also moments of silence, shyness and the fact we don’t cross paths that contribute to these photos never reaching their intended target.
The Sets
Available to view and shareable by the platform Pixieset. Marked with a location, date and time in place for ease of knowing whether you were there or not. Photos are downloadable in web resolution for non-commercial use, for free. For anything hi-res or printable it’s a small fee. There is also an option to contribute to this project in exchange for downloading a photo. A coffee, beer or burger; nothing too extravagant.
You can make a donation.
Creating these projects takes hours of work. Consider donating in exchange for a photo.

Absolutely love this Rich! Great project idea. Really excited to see where this could go! You should make a coffee table book featuring your surf photos, they truly are incredible. I would love to have a copy on my coffee table.
